DORFMAN´S ART GALLERY

Dorfman's Art Gallery is an interesting new concept which enables you to enjoy the Works of Renato and Adán Dorfman.

Although the present Gallery in the Royal Caribbean Resort Lobby is smaller than our previous Gallery at “The Isla” the art collections have been divided into three permanent exhibitions, in the lobbies of the Royal Sands (Original Sculptures and Carvings), Royal Caribbean (Caribbean & Contemporary Mayan) and Royal Mayan (Classic Mayan).

RENATO´S EXPOSITIONS IN EUROPE:

Barcelona, Spain
– “The theme of the Gallery exposition was “color and form” and my intent was, through color, form and poetry, to reflect my feelings towards man and the world he inhabits. At the same time I was able to contemplate emotions that dwell within me regarding man and his lack of harmony with himself. The results are glyphs, in relief, which have a literal and poetic value”.

Berlin, Germany – Renato was among 12 international artists chosen to exhibit in the 18th century St. Thomas Church in the Betanien Cultural Center. “The theme in this important International Collective Exposition is the 1st. World War. I focused on the cold and obscure nature of man, showing the limits of pain and suffering which result from greed and imperialism. It´s a reflection on the causes and effects of war in general, from World War 1 to the present, where we find that, through globalization, all of the wars are world wars, since, regardless of size, in some way or another they effect everyone”. The exhibit will continue through December, 2004.

ADAN'S MASKS
:

“Masks are a medium which allows me to manifest my deepest feelings and attitudes by projecting them into the outer world in the form of facial expressions. Frequently, my masks, which are made from paper mache and painted in oils, represent colorful animal characteristics. That´s because I feel that our inner self is full of color and some of our most fundamental attitudes are animal in nature. I often use masks as part of my performance”.

MORE FROM RENATO:

DELL ARTE,SCHLOSS HONHARD
Exhibition: “LABYRINTHS”. During his stay in Germany Renato was invited to participate in this exposition with 5 other international artists. The event, which is dedicated to promoting the arts in an exquisite cultural environment, took place in Honhardt, Germany. Renato exhibited drawings and sketches in ink on paper, work he had done while in Europe.

FORMED MEXICAN PAPYRUS, A NEW TECHNIQUE:
Because of the high cost of shipping ceramic sculptures overseas as well as the always existent fear of breakage, Renato experimented with different mediums. “The new tecnique I use is a personal discovery. I combine paper mache with a hybrid of my work in clay and stucco and my most recent work in oils on Mexican papyrus. It evokes a relationship between the cultures of ancient Mexico and contemporary themes”.

MY TIME IN EUROPE:
“Besides the expositions, it has been an incredible learning experience for me. Tasting life in different cultures while sharing with other artists inspires me greatly and allows me to progress and develop artistically. What´s also vitally important are the new opportunities that are presenting themselves and are allowing me to project my work in Europe, where I hope to establish a lasting presence.

I am currently learning the arts of lithograph and etching”.
